I’m RE-registered
If I had to grade BCC right now, I’d give it a ‘C’ overall, and the financial aid department a ‘D’.
I’ve had financial aid paperwork in progress for over a month now. They keep calling and sending email asking for the same information over and over. Just when I think they’ve got it, I get a paper letter asking again. When I call with questions, I’m put on hold 3-5 times while the person goes to ask someone else the answer. I just don’t get the feeling that they know what the hell they’re doing.
Today I got a call from Miss B in the financial aid dept asking for an estimated graduation date. “Well,” I said, “it’s a two year degree, so I’m going to take a shot and say two years from now.” She entered that information and said “Ok, all your paperwork is done, but the funds won’t be available until May 2nd, so go ahead and register but make sure you ask for a deferment.” I said that I was already registered and that we should be all done. She informed me that she had no registration information for me. After looking a bit deeper, she told me that the registration office had dropped me yesterday for non-payment of tuition fees. I suppose it’s my fault for not asking for a deferment (a slip of paper saying that I have loans and grants being processed), but I can’t help thinking they could have seen my status if they’d bothered to look. I asked Miss B about this, and she assured me that it’s an entirely automated system.
Kimberly’s been trying to get me to see the bright side, so here goes; At least it happened now, while I still have time to fix it. That, and they gave me enough money to pay for two quarters of tuition and buy a super-sweet laptop.
I’ve now re-registered for spring quarter. I lost my seat in Sociology to someone else, but replaced it with Psychology, so overall it’s no big deal. My new schedule is:
10:30-11:20 (M,Th) Psychology
11:30-12:20 (M-F) Math
12:30-02:40 (T,Th,F) English
Oh, and the registration office has hit me with a $16 charge. I’m assuming this is payment for the electricity their automated system used while drop-kicking me.
